A win in West London Combine event #4 and other results. UPDATED

This was a 25 mile event on the HCC114 Great Missenden course. It was a cool and breezy day offering a brisk finish.

Peter Dixon was the star of the show with a new personal best time of 58:02 to win the whole event. The altitude training is paying off (he’s using the turbo in the loft).

John Williams, on a road bike, also recorded a PB of 1:9:32 win the club medal for fastest on handicap. The Jim Revill Trophy will go to Peter because John has not ridden the requisite two qualifying events. Peter will also get a medal for fastest rider and 2nd handicap. He’ll have to extend his trophy cabinet.

Stuart Birnie took the honours in the season long battle between him and Simon Wicks – both with course PBs I think. Stuart wins a club medal for 2nd fastest. Richie ‘Road Man’ Jerome found the scratch man tag a little heavy to bear and came back with a 1:5:40 – 5 seconds ahead of me on my full TT rig (blog).

Jumbo and Moony found the going tough but not, I suspect, as tough as Harmeet did riding her first race. Well done, Harmeet.

On Wednesday Gill Reynolds rode the CCBreckland ’10’ and recorded a 25:24. The event was won by G Rushmore (King’s Lynn CC) in 21:59.

If you missed it, there also a blog entry about Jayne Paine, Tony Flynn and Tim BurrowsWednesday night TT escapades at the Hillingdon Circuit.

Brian, Peter Dixon, Peter Cookson and I were entered for the Team Velo Sportif ’10’ on Saturday, but the event was cancelled because of dangerous conditions. Gill Reynolds‘ Saturday event was also cancelled, but today she rode the Spirit ’10’ at Milton Keynes in 26:22 to take the fastest lady award as well as 3rd vet’s prize on standard.

I’ll update this entry with any other results that come in.

Coming Up
Saturday 19th June has a Farnborough and Camberley ’10’ on the H10/8 (Bentley). I’m heading West to ride the Cwmcarn Paragon RC ’25’ on the R25/7 (if I get in. And – no – it’s not THAT Welsh course).

Sunday 20th June sees the Farnham RC ’25’ on the H25/8 (Bentley).
