Glad’s Tiding – w/e 02/03 August 08

The time trialist continue to provide the news. Gill Reynolds took another fastest lady award in the Charlotteville 10 at Bentley on Saturday with a 25.29.

Ron Purdy rode in the Hemel Hempstead C.C. 10 at Leighton Buzzard after a torrential downpour which quickly died out in the heat finishing in 30.31.

On Sunday in the West London Cycling Association 25 at Marlow new club member Joe Foley recorded 1.13.35 and Brian Moon 1.12.57 after a 2 minutes late start.

The club’s annual picnic at Langley Park was one of our less successful events as only Jim and Wendy Mears and Ron and Gladys Purdy put in an appearance in the very, very wet conditions. Ron and I arrived at Langley Park at 1.30p.m. just as Jim and Wendy were leaving. We stayed whilst Ron had a cup of tea and carried out a pilgramage to “the tree”. Paths had been cut but all round the tree the grass was about a foot high. Luckily, he had his wellies on. He said it was a good day but he had no one to talk to as I didn’t get out the car.
