Aside from some short obligatory sections riders are free to choose their own route, which runs from the start in Geraardsbergen, Belgium to Çanakkale, Turkey. However riders have to pass through controls in Clermont-Ferrand, France, the  Furka Pass, Switzerland, Passo di Giau, Italy and the Durmitor Massif, Montenegro.
