Track and time trials, weekend of 24/25 May UPDATED

Track

Saturday saw a group of WCC riders joining the first of three Prime Coaching track sessions at a sunny and warm Welwyn. WCC track supremo Tony Woodford and fellow coach Steve May put the 20 odd riders (some very odd riders) through their paces for two hours. The photos on this report were taken by Ian Why at the dedicated WCC session the week before.

<< I check my Garmin to check we’re still on course while Ray ‘Kelnago’ Kelly  gets ready to unleash the sprint that earned him the epithet “The Eternal Equal Seventh”. Jumbo, Roger and Jayne look on in amazement.

Plenty of club members have been to Welwyn over the last couple of weeks, so if you’re thinking of giving it a go, why not ask them about the experience.

It was sunny, hence the Reservoir Dogs look. >>

Time Trialling

Gill Reynolds reports:-
Saturday: Newbury RC 25, H25/1 – warm, windy (headwind out to first turn) Aldermaston.  Road very rough and full of potholes.
Brian Moon 1.12.49
Gill Reynolds 1.7.53
Jumbo James 1.7.23
Pete Cookson 1.3.38
Julia Shaw did a 55.33 (!!) – wind must have dropped for her.
Sunday: Norlond TT Combine 10, F1B/10: Looked like perfect morning – warmish and no wind.  However half an hour before start in began to rain and got colder.
Gill was 2nd lady with 25.52 – approached all the roundabouts with great caution. Pete Cookson was riding his new bike but said he could not control it in the rainy conditions and said that he was too cold – he ended up with  29.44.
Meanwhile… I rode an Amersham RCC club 10m TT this morning on the Great Missenden course (HCC180). It was cold and tipping down with rain but I recorded a season’s best 25:52 (a popular time this weekend) for second place from seven riders. I’m still cold. Blog post here.

Looking at the weekend of 15/16 May, I am entering the Hounslow and Dist Whs 10m TT on the H10/8 on the Saturday and the High Wycombe CC 25m TT on the H25/2 on the Sunday. There aren’t many events on the fast H25/2 ‘ski slope’ course this year, so I’d get an entry in if I was you. If you need more details, do get in touch.
