Just heard the desperately sad news. Rocco was the man who inspired me to take up Audax riding and dragged me kicking and screaming into the WCC!, bless him. I have so many fun and fond memories of a wonderful man and will carry them always. My Mum and Dad also always enjoyed a warm welcome from Rocco whenever and where ever we met up.

Sadly I will miss the funeral as I am riding in Scotland.

I’m sorry to hear of Roccos’ passing too. I rode his rides in West London and was always greeted with an encouraging word or witty remark, and subsequenty went on to join Willesden with his support. Unfortuneatley I won’t be able to make the funeral, as I’ll be in Scotland on an Audax, which I’m sure he wouldn’t want any other way. I and I’m sure a lot of other others will be thinking of him. My condolances to all his nearest and dearest. Fondest memories Tim.

So sad to hear about Rocco. He always had kind words for me when I joined the Willesden in 1980. He offered to loan me a pair of wheels for my first road race but I declined. The tyres had no tread. I just didn’t realize that they were the very best, and latest, slicks.

I’m sorry that I cannot be at the funeral. I fell off at O mph and broke my hip. Four weeks later and i’m still hobbling on crutches, and housebound.

    My regards to all concerned

    Kerry Kennedy

Very very sad news ,I too have known Rocco since 1960 when he was an associate member of the Velo Club Noviomagus. He helped with position and training tips, our mentor, and at times entertaining. On a ride to Lee -On- Solent went into a cafe and Rocco produced his own sandwiches, we were asked to leave!!!
Found a Chichester Cycling Club Hand Book 1955 And there he is Junior under18 Champ at 10,25, and 30 mile ave speed 24.132mph. also 100mile handicap champ 4hr 36min 24sec.
    Club Hardriders 25 (hilly)1hr 11min 40sec.
So glad to have known him again these last few years .Sorry about the broken bike that came off my car along with my roof rack ,see you at the top of Goodwood Hill mate
