Alex Pierce picked up fourth in his first attempt at the match sprints on the track at Lee Valley, “I’ve never felt so tiny” he says referring to his competition!

Gildas Braine was there to see the action:

“Alex was AMAZING!!! He took down two of the big guns in his heat and quarter final to qualify directly to the semis. They were literally twice his size and had no idea what happened to them. But he got his tactics spot on in both, getting the jump and making a four or five bike-length gap with a lap to go that neither was able to close down. To finish fourth in what was a strong field was remarkable, and he made Jayne and me feel very proud to be wearing the Willesden Jersey last night. He was also the crowd favourite for the evening! Well done Alex.”

Jayne and Gildas were also spotted by Dawn’s camera in the bunch races.
