As an exciting alternative there is John Morris’s/Wembley RC Annual Charity Ride, start 10am from Hit or Miss Pub, Penn Street HP7 0PX.
This year is the 23rd anniversary of this gruelling pub crawl ride which covers a full 15 miles before lunch at Huntswood Golf Club Burnham, returning to the Hit or Miss via Beaconsfield, with an afternoon tea stop at the Royal Standard of England at Knotty Green, England’s oldest ale house. The route also passes by a number of other hostelries should you require refreshment.
Sponsorship is desired but you can make a donation to enter on the morning. The ride is held each year in a very good cause. This year all proceeds will go to the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service. The charity is working to build a children’s hospice to give more support to children with life-limiting conditions and their families and has already funded a nurse to support children in their own homes.
